Asra goes to Copacabana Churrascaria

As a foodie, I am always trying out new eateries. So, the news of a Brazilian steakhouse with awesome food in K-town made me drop everything and go to that place for lunch on a weekday. A number of my friends recommended this new Brazilian steakhouse Copacabana Churrascaria to me, so I opted for all you can eat lunch buffet and reached there around 1 pm. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The interior of the restaurant was tastefully done, the lighting was perfect and the Brazilian music in the background provided a complete Brazilian experience.

The first thing that caught my eye was an extravagant salad bar with a number of different types of salads to choose from. The buffet table had a lot of different dishes, I tried some of the dishes such as okra, beef lasagne, spinach dip, Brazilian rice and Alfredo pasta from the buffet. The cream of mushroom soup was so delicious that I could not stop myself from having another bowl. I and my friend were struggling not to eat too much from the buffet menu as our meat cuts were on the grill and we had to keep the room in our stomachs for the meat.

Finally, the meat started coming. They started with the honey glazed chicken wings which I didn’t like that much. The servers quickly served us the second meat cut which was the Brazilian spicy BBQ chicken, the chicken was juicy and the spices were on point.

Mutton ribs were also delicious and cooked to perfection but for me, the best part of that lunch was the beef flank… Oh, it was out of this world, soft, juicy, spicy, moist and melts in your mouth. The spices were perfect and were not overpowering which sometimes puts me off. After all that spicy food I desperately needed a refreshing drink so we ordered the Brazilian crush and that is a super refreshing and delicious drink. We ordered one more minty drink, I do not remember its name though😊

I recommend all the meat lovers to try this place. I must say that the service was great and the carvers who were bringing and carving the meat for us from different meat selections were quick and brilliant. The restaurant is furnished sophisticatedly and provides quality food at affordable prices. Highly recommended.

Happy eating!

How to Bounce Back After Cheating On Your Diet

It has happened to all of us at some point. We have all been there when our diet is going great, we are eating healthy, losing weight gradually and suddenly we start craving something and eat what we really shouldn’t have.

In my case, I give up too soon and end up having whatever I was craving. The worst part comes afterward when you are done eating your much-loved pleasure food. It is when your brain starts thinking sensibly again and you start feeling super guilty and stressed about the food you shouldn’t have consumed. Most people cannot handle this part and end up thinking of themselves as a failure, which leads them to give up on the healthy lifestyle completely.

I have always been a chubby girl, with hypothyroid and a super-slow metabolism, I never stopped gaining weight. My weight increased with time while I kept trying different diets, exercises and what not. Recently, I have recognized a major problem in my lifestyle and I am trying to change that with more positivity. In the past, whenever I ate something bad while on a diet, I got so depressed thinking of myself as a failure with no willpower who can never do anything right. This type of thinking is so distressing because as soon as I cheated on my diet, I used to convince myself that I am unable to lose weight and went back to eating fast-food and unhealthy stuff. This yo-yo diet pattern resulted in me getting heavier than before.

I know how it feels when you are going great and this thing happens, but you have to forgive yourself and move forward. Here are a few tips to successfully get back on track after cheating on your diet.

The Day After

Most people eat very less or starve themselves the next day to balance the number of calories they had when they cheated on their diet. This approach is so wrong as starving yourself will slow down your metabolism and hinder your weight loss goals. Do not starve yourself as a punishment, you are only a human and it is ok to indulge in your favorite foods sometimes, you just need to know the right way to get back on track. Plan your day after meals and include foods with high protein, fiber, and vegetables.

The Cheat Day

As a foodie, I realized that I can never completely cut off my favorite foods from my life so I had to add a cheat day in my week. It gives me a phycological break from the restrictive food routine but it also motivates me more for the next day when I have to go back to my diet again. Most people assume that they can have anything and everything on a cheat day which is wrong! You have to remain in your senses even on a cheat day. for example, if you are craving pizza for lunch then go get a pizza on your cheat day, enjoy your pizza. However, eat something healthy like a salad or fruit for dinner, do not go overboard with the cheat day.

Double the Water Intake

Water helps to flush the toxins out of our body. After you are done binging on your favorite food and cheating on your diet, you need to get a hold of yourself and drink plenty of water. I suggest doubling the water intake on the next day to help your body flush out the toxins and keep you hydrated and full.

Don’t Be a Quitter

There is nothing you can do now after eating something that you shouldn’t have. The only and the best thing to do now is to forgive yourself and move on. Turn this mistake into a motivation for tomorrow and don’t lose hope. You are trying to change deep-rooted old habits which can not be done in a day. What you did is normal and almost all weight watchers are guilty of cheating once in a while. Take your time, be persistent and never think of quitting your diet.

There is one thing I have noticed about the cravings that they are strong but they are also temporary. If you patiently wait them out, you can get over the craving phase and stop thinking about that unhealthy food you were craving just a while before. I suggest waiting at least half an hour before you give up and eat, and drinking water to suppress that craving. However, it is totally fine if you end up binging on a cake or something you love to eat, always bounce back and take motivation from your mistake. Quitting is the worst thing you can do to your body so don’t give up and maintain a healthy life-style because you know you can do it!

Six Tony Moly Masks You Need To Try

I am a face masks fan and love trying new things. I have tried everything from clay, bubble, magnetic masks to simple sheet masks. Tony Moly is the South Korean Cosmetic brand which is highly popular. The brand offers a wide range of products and their sheet masks are especially famous. I personally find it cheaper and affordable than the other Korean cosmetic brands.

A number of famous beauty bloggers and YouTubers tried products from Tony Moly and the results were amazing that is why it is now popular in Pakistan as well. I personally love sheet masks; the cool and soothing effect relaxes and hydrates the skin. After a long tiring summer day, I just apply one of these sheet masks on my face and relax. You can keep them in the fridge in the summers for the extra cooling effect. Here are my most favourite Tony Moly masks.

1. Tony Moly I’m Real Mask Sheet (Lemon)20171124_082929

This mask sheet from Tony Moly is super refreshing, it revitalizes the tired looking dull skin. It has lemon extracts so it is high in Vitamin-C which is good for brightening the skin. This mask is especially for the occasions when we are looking for a radiant glow and bright skin in no time. It has a nice subtle scent, I chill the masks in the fridge before applying. Apply the mask for about 20 minutes and then gently remove the mask, massage the remaining liquid in the pack and get the more soft, radiant looking skin.

2. Tony Moly I’m Real Mask Sheet (Pomegranate)20171124_083041

This pomegranate mask is also from the ‘I’m Real’ range and it promises elasticity. It firms and plumps up the skin fast. Apply the mask for 20 minutes on your face for a luxurious experience and you will get a firmer looking toned skin. It is so hydrating you don’t even need a moisturizer afterwards. Just massage the remaining serum gently with fingertips.

3. Tony Moly Tomatox Magic Massage Pack:RETRE

First of all, I absolutely love the packaging of this. The container is made to resemble a cute red tomato, it is so pretty. Basically, it is a wash off mash in cream/lotion form with a brightening effect. It has a very subtle pleasant smell and it leaves skin brighter and even toned. Apply a little on damp face and massage it for a few minutes then leave on the skin as a mask for 10 minutes and wash off. The results are visible even after first use. Do try it guys.

4. Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Eye Patch:hbjnb

Dark circles under eyes are a nightmare for many people. They make you look and feel tired all the time. Tony Moly has these cute eye mask specifically designed to target dark circles. It comes in the patches to fit the eye area and it lightens dark circles. Use it in the same way as other masks for about 15 minutes and get a more awake and fresh look instantly.

5. Megatox Bright Shot by Tony Moly:20171124_083152

Tony Moly Megatox bright shot ampoule mask is not like regular sheet mask, it comes in a packaging shaped like a syringe. I have tried the pink one which is for brightening and it impressed me so much. According to Tony Moly, it contains Glutathione which targets dark spots and makes them lighter. So, the first time when I used it I was surprised to find a rolled-up sheet mask in the syringe-shaped pack. Just leave the mask for 15 minutes on the skin and then apply remaining serum from the pack. There is so much serum in the pack that you can easily rub it on your face and neck after removing the mask. It makes the skin glow and gives a lightening effect. Highly recommended.

6.Tony Moly Master Lab Snail Mucin Sheet Mask:mnm

This mask is from Tony Moly Master Lab collection. It offers intensive damage care. If you have damaged/rough of dry skin then snail mucin is a life saver for you. Yes, I was disgusted at first. I was not sure what will it smell or feel like before using it, I was only imaging slimy snails leaving slime on my face. Yuk! But after the first use, I had no choice but to became a fan of snail mucin mask. It is so super hydrating that I can’t explain it in my humble words. Doesn’t have any unpleasant smell as I was suspecting. It repairs the skin and soothes it. Everyone with dry dull skin must try this one to moisturize and hydrate their skin.

So, these were my most favourite, super affordable Tony Moly masks for radiant skin. Comment if you have tried some of these as well. Share what results you got by using these masks. The best part of K-beauty products is the price. They are very cheap and affordable for everyone. Plus, I find k-Beauty products super cute as well. If you haven’t tried any of these yet, I highly recommend you to try a few. You won’t regret it.

A Look Inside My Make-up bag

A Look Inside My Make-up bag

I have always been very interested in cosmetic products. Bright lipsticks and blushes attracted me. I was the child that would experiment with their mom’s make-up all the time and get caught red-handed as well as red-faced with eyeshadows and lipsticks all over. In my teens, I loved dolling up myself and my younger cousins by applying brightest eyeshadows and glossy pink lipsticks on them. Over the time, my makeup bag evolved and now it has more subtle colors of eyeshadows and a lot of nudes and browns for lip colors. Here I am sharing my must-have makeup items with you guys. Comment below if you also have the same products in your makeup bag.

Elf Poreless Face Primer

sss

Elf poreless face primer is the best drugstore primer I have ever tried. It is easy on the pocket and gives remarkable results. It makes my skin so smooth and flawless and makes a perfect base to apply any foundation. You can get the small bottle only for $6 which is quite a reasonable amount.

L.A Girl HD Pro Conceal Concealer

kjkj

L.A girl Pro Conceal concealer comes in numerous shades that I can use but I mostly prefer shades GC977-warm sand and GC980-Cool Tan. It is a super affordable and full coverage concealer with creamy yet light texture. I have seen many beauty gurus use this drugstore $5 concealer along with their super expensive high-end foundations as it gives the same result as any costly concealer would. It also has a few color correctors which perfectly hide redness and blemishes for smooth and flawless makeup application. Highly recommended.

Maybelline Great Lash

ffO

I have literally tried dozens of mascaras so far. Every mascara that I found decent was really expensive but this one mascara by Maybelline is a life saver. It is ‘Maybelline great lash’ in the color ‘Blackest black’. I swear by this mascara as it gives me thicker and darker lashes throughout the day. Girls, do try this mascara for only $6 and get those dark, dramatic eyelashes you always wanted.

ColorPop X Hello Kitty Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick ‘Ribbon’

sksksk

Everyone loves a good red lipstick. However, women always seem to struggle to find the right shade of red according to their skin tone. I am from Pakistan and I have dusky complexion so finding a good red was a challenge for me but once I found ‘Ribbon’ by ColorPop, my search was over. It is such a pretty colour and looks amazing on darker, duskier complexions. It is a blue-based red and I am positive it looks pretty on darker skin tones and I also believe it will look incredible almost on every skin color. So, if you have a lighter skin tone and you also found it amazing than do let me know in the comments below. Ribbon by ColorPop is super pigmented, stays for 10 hours and retails for only $ 6.

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Powder

sss

My makeup bag always has a good powder in it as I have oily skin and I need to set my foundation with a powder for it to stay. L’Oréal Paris infallible powder in ‘Sunbeige’ is my favorite powder because it absorbs excess oil and gives me a shine-free skin for up to 10 hours. I use it to set my foundation and for touch-ups during the day. It is around $12 and totally worth the cost.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in ‘Intense Nude’

ddd

This lipstick is very expensive for me but it is also my favorite winter lipstick. I love nude lipsticks and I use the shade ‘Intense Nude’ I love how it gives perfect coverage in just one swipe. I wish it was not that expensive but still, I buy this luxury and absolutely love it. It is a super creamy, hydrating, and sculpting formula that gives extra shine and softens your lips. Even on the days when my lips are badly chapped, I use this lipstick to make my lips feel super hydrated and keep them moisturized throughout the day.

There are so many other things in my makeup bag such as Eyeliners, Lip pencils, and lip glosses but I only listed my favorite items here. These are my must-haves and I can’t survive a day without them. The only expensive item here is the Estee Lauder’s Lipstick, but trust me it is so hydrating and pretty that it is totally worth the cost.

BEFORE I DIE

Ten things to do before you are thirty!!

45 things you need to do before you die…

I am sure every one of us is aware of such bucket lists. The to-do list is something everyone has created in their lives to achieve some sort of goal; such as ‘Must lose 10 kg before Christmas’ or ‘Save money to visit Europe this year’ etc. Sometimes setting goals like this work wonders for people as it helps them to stay focused and keeps them motivated. What I am talking about here today is the type of adventurous and bankrupting bucket list ideas we follow that are written for us by some random person we don’t even know.hhh

This random collection of activities looks very promising and eye-catching. The ideas suggested promise to give you the eventual contentment but the writers fail to realize that every individual has a different idea of pleasure and happiness. Social media is an amazing platform for everyone, it has numerous benefits but what happened with time is that young people forgot how to enjoy the moment they are living right now. We go to places, keep taking selfies and don’t live that moment fully. I take a lot of selfies myself but if I am at a place I wanted to see, I would want to enjoy and live that very moment and of course take pictures later.

We all have some things that we want to do out of our comfort zones but we are not passionate about them. I have read so many bucket list ideas on the internet that I sometimes that I feel I didn’t accomplish anything in life according to them. I didn’t go skydiving, mountain climbing, bungee jumping and gliding before my 25th birthday as they suggested. This is sometimes difficult and unrealistic for people living in different living conditions across the world.

If you must make a bucket list you should make a list of things that actually make you happy. Make your own and a personalized list of things or activities you like. For example, if you are claustrophobic and a travel bucket-list suggests visiting a salt mine in Poland that reaches a depth of 300 meters, will it make you happy? It might be a great adventure and a fun thing to do for your friends but because of your condition, the idea of going so deep down scares you and you are unable to enjoy the experience with them. So, our to-do lists should consist of the things we are passionate about, things that are not too bizarre or extravagant, places we always wanted to visit and cuisines we always wanted to try!! Follow your inner voice if you are in search of true happiness because no one knows us better than ourselves.

Why I do not have a bucket list? It is simply because when we follow these lists, we take our idea of happiness from others such as media, friends and our social circle. These adventures might bring happiness to some people but they won’t give the same amount of happiness to others with different mindsets, likes, and dislikes. The idea of joy and success should be formed individually by us keeping our passion in mind. Always plan to do what you know brings you the pleasure, not something that will look cool on your Instagram. For example; Travel, food, and shopping give me the ultimate joy. Travel is my passion but I get more excited with the idea of exploring new cultures and cuisines than going for gliding or bungee jumping from a mountain. Be excited about future, what life is going to throw your way. Experience and enjoy the current moment, don’t dwell on past and live life how you want to live it.

Stay Blessed

TIPS TO AVOID MOVING DAY CHAOS

Moving-50.jpg

Moving to a new residence is exciting and exhausting at the same time. It takes a lot of time and effort to pack your belongings and then move them safely to a new home. Many times we find our precious vases and other delicate stuff broken when we unpack after reaching the destination. Here are a few tips to help you pack smartly and make your moving process less tiring and frustrating.

  1. Wrap Everything in Newspapers:

Old newspapers can help you take your glass and fragile stuff reach safely at the new place. Just get a bunch of old newspapers and wrap the vases, Chinaware, photo frames neatly in newspapers .use two or more layers of papers for better protection.

  1. Label Your Boxes:

Always label the boxes. You can use a bold marker or stickers to mark what is in which box or bag. This way you will be able to find the items easily later.

  1. Use Big Cardboard boxes:

Use big cardboard boxes to transport your kitchenware, crockery, kitchen appliances and spices. They are spacious and allow you to pack a lot of stuff in one box.

  1. Don’t Fold Clothing:

Packing clothes can be easier if you roll them instead of folding them. This way clothes take up lesser space in your bags or suitcases. Make a different box for the small items such as socks, ties, and scarves so they don’t get lost in the process of moving.

  1. Don’t Pack Valuables:

Put all your expensive watches and jewelry in a small vanity bag or a pouch and keep this in your handbag. Don’t pack it in boxes with other items so you won’t lose or forget where you packed it.

  1. Get Rid of Clutter:

Throw away all the unwanted stuff that is crammed in your closets. We all have many dresses or make-up items that we never wear but they are resting in the closet since forever. Get rid of extra stuff while you have a chance. Moving process can be a cleaning process as well. You don’t want to take clutter along with you to your beautiful new home.

  1. Mindful transport selection:

Choose the right type and size of moving truck/van to move your belongings. Plan everything early so that on a moving day, you know how many trips are required to move all of the stuff. A bigger truck can move things in 2 or 3 trips but it fully depends on the amount of stuff that is to be moved.

Moving is always exhausting and overwhelming but you can start organizing earlier to avoid chaos.Use these tips given above to move your belongings to a new place without broken vases and lost valuables.

MINIMIZE THE RISKS OF CHILD ABUSE WITH BETTER PARENTING

disasters-vulnerable-women-children-sexual-abuse-violence-20141203-02_7813760BE1D348F38B86B9DF0C6018DB

Currently, everyone’s social media news feed is flooded with hashtag #Metoo posts . People and especially women from all over the world shared their experiences of harassment under this hashtag. It is not easy to talk about the nightmares you have gone through; you always fear being judged even if you were powerless at the time of that incident. It gave people an idea of the enormity of this issue even though there are numerous people who kept silent.

#Metoo dragged me into the deep sea of emotions and anger, reminding me of everything that I have ever read, felt and heard about harassment. All the sexual assault stories I heard from my friends, all the catcalls and whistles I experienced growing up as a girl flashed before my eyes once again. It was nice to see that so many people who kept their secrets bottled up because of different fears opened up now on social media informing about their experiences. The powerlessness they once felt during their incident of harassment is finally disappeared because of the power social media gave them to stop hiding and tell their story. The magnitude of “#Metoo” stories is eye opening and it is disgusting to see that this happens way too often than we think; they just do not get reported often. Women and men both can be a victim of harassment but I strongly want to talk about children who are the most vulnerable victims.

Harassment according to me can be anything happened to you without your consent. It can be an un-invited touch on the bus, a catcall on the street, a dirty text from your co-worker or a full-fledged sexual assault. It happens everywhere in the world but in Pakistan people usually ignore it.Growing up, many girls in my friend circle shared their experiences of being molested as a child by a teacher, neighbor, relatives etc but none of them informed their family. It’s like we feel safer to share our pain with friends but very few report it to their parents who can actually do something about it. So what is wrong with our parenting? I m a single woman but I have it crystal clear in my mind that whenever I will have kids, I will make sure to inform them about their bodies as soon as possible and build a strong friendship bond with them. Pakistani Parents need to take a few things into consideration to prevent any future problems in this regard. Here are a few things parents need to do Asap before it’s too late.

TALK TO KIDS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE:

Sexual harassment is something a number of kids face in their lives, mostly during the ages of seven to thirteen. However, it can happen to anyone; by anyone in any age. Educating children is very important in this regard. Teach your children that certain parts of their bodies are private and no one should touch them. Many parents educate and train their children but there are a huge number of people in Pakistan who do not want to discuss this thinking that the kids are too young for this or that they are safe just because they don’t go out alone. Trust me, there are so many situations where a child can feel unsafe even at your house, so educating kids will be the best decision you will make. You need to develop trust and bond with your kids letting them know the dangers they can face in this regard. No one is asking you to give them too much information but at least they should be able to differentiate between right and wrong and to be able to inform you if they ever feel unsafe with anyone without fear.

TRUST IS THE KEY:

Developing trust is so important; most of the time children never report abuse or molestation to their elders because they think that they will also be considered guilty or get in trouble. They might think that parents won’t believe them just because this situation sounds too bizarre to them. Resolve this with love and trust. Tell your child that you love them no matter what and they can share anything without fear with you. A friendly bond will allow kids to share things with you without any fear.

MAKE “NO SECRETS” RULE:

A molester might use sweet words, bribes, loving gestures or even threat to keep their evil deeds a secret. Sexual harassment is committed by someone who is more powerful than us. It can be anyone a school bus driver, a teacher, an uncle, a stranger they met in the park. The molester can ask children to remain silent about the incident which works every time because kids get easily scared. Parents should educate kids about secret touch. Inform them that if a person touches them improperly and asks them to keep it a secret, they should immediately inform their parents. Assure them that they won’t be in trouble for anything. Build trust with love and communication.

DO NOT TRUST EVERYONE:

Sometimes relatives and family friends can be as dangerous as any stranger on the street, inform your kids not to let anyone touch them in an indecent manner. There should be some boundaries made clear in the child’s mind. For example; hugs or a kiss on the cheek from relatives like uncle/aunt, grandparents are ok but any touch apart from that should be reported to parents. What you can do is to try not leaving your kids even with the people you trust a lot because most of the reported sexual assault worldwide is usually done by someone the children already knew. There are a striking number of kids that are molested by people their parents know as in family friends or relatives. That also doesn’t mean that we should be paranoid and start doubting everyone who genuinely loves your children but it is best not to leave the kids alone with anyone for long time periods.

USE CCTV CAMERAS AND DEVELOP A CODE:

If you have to leave kids with someone such as a nanny or a house-help, install cameras both open and hidden. It will work as a prevention because the potential attacker will know he/she can be filmed which will prevent any assault. Develop a code word with your kids for such situations, ask your kids to remember a code word which they can use to inform about a certain person or a situation when they are around people and cannot tell openly.

TEACHING SELF DEFENCE:

Boys and girls in their early teens should be taught basic self-defense to prevent any bad situation. But the younger kids who are small and exposed cannot do much; teach them to run away or move away from the person they feel unsafe with and to scream for help if alone with that person.

We teach kids to stay away from electric objects to prevent shock, to never touch sharp objects like knives to prevent cuts but we forget to teach about body safety which is essential to prevent sexual assault. I would say all parents should take extra care of their children while growing up and build a type of relationship where kids can easily share anything with parents to prevent any type of future violence and harassment. Stay safe.
